Grantseeking Mentoring

is an indispensable process for developing professional skills and confidence in this complex discipline. The alternative is trial and error, and spotty assistance from program officers and colleagues, which can result in slow progress towards building grantsmanship acumen.

The goal of my mentoring services is to share time-tested strategies for creating collaborative grantseeking processes that can yield positive results for preaward activities, and build a culture of grantsmanship within organizations. This can be achieved through weekly or biweekly (depending on active grant deadlines) that offer a series of hands-on activities with continuous guidance.

These activities can include (depending on appropriateness to the situation):

    • Interpreting guidelines
    • Seeking and analyzing additional information from program officers, awarded grant histories, GuideStar.org, etc.
    • Searching for appropriate grant opportunities
    • Collecting appropriate funder programs and deadlines
    • Preparing checklists for grant application content
    • Determining feasibility of projects
    • Developing and editing competitive application content
    • Sharing information about your organization’s grantseeking efforts to build networks and prospective partnerships
    Post it notes with grant-consulting-questions
